Kobe vs Artest

May 8th, 2009

Damn I can’t believe all the hating the Lakers were doing in game 2. All this shows me is that the Lakers are scared because they don’t play like that usually all this led them to a testy 111-98 victory. Kobe showed not have been allowed to play game 3 after hitting Artest in the throat. Kobe got lucky that Ron didn’t end his career. It’s all good because I don’t want the LA fans to cry for losing without Kobe we will beat em with her!
Kobes a punk

What was up with all the smack talk against Scola? The Lakers were messing with him far to much. Screw Odom, Fisher and Walton…
Talking Smack

I am gonna have to say that Houston needs to end all this and take the home games and end it in Game 6.

Flakey Flakerson and the easy way out! (Social Networking)

May 7th, 2009

Flake
First, let me define the word flake for ya. I know you have a friend who says that they will do something for you or with you and has backed out last minute. Maybe you’ve done it in the past, if so, you my friend are flake or have flaked out.
So recently, I had a friend who said they could hook me up with with a gig at a club fo sho… I gave em at least 3 weeks advance to let em know i was able to do this. I also planned and told my friends to come out and support me. Then 2 hours before the gig was gonna go down, bamm a flakey text to punk out and cancel the gig. No call just a bunk cowardly text. The reason didn’t add up and he seemed to be over promising but under delivering. Technology was able to assist him in his flakish behavior.
With that being said, social networking also facilitates the demise of face-to-face interaction. People promise things via the internet, for example, “Lets do lunch” and as quickly as they invite they are able to instantaneously back out with a lame excuse attached.
While social networks allows us to expand our network it also allows us to be less caring to that network. With a smaller more personal network you are able to allot more time to each person within that network. With a larger network, obviously, it forces you to industrialize all your relationships and lose focus on those that normally wouldn’t be treated that way.

NBA Playoffs - Go Rockets

May 6th, 2009

I don’t know about the rest of you but the playoffs are about the biggest thing on TV right now.  Seeing that I am from Houston that is my team of preference.

I was excited when we managed to break the curse and advance to the second round. I was not to excited to be facing the Lakers in the second round. Well the first game happened and Houston WON!!! I was very excited about this. Well the media portrayed this victory as a mistake and an error that wouldn’t happen again. Well I disagree. The media can suck it…they did the same thing for UT when we were facing USC for the championship game in 2005. All this shows is that the media has an LA preference and they can suck it.

Well tonight we will see what happens. If we lose its cool because were in LA but if we win then its over for LA, cuz they don’t stand a chance in the H.

What about the word “whack”?

May 6th, 2009

I was having a debate with my girlfriend and I told her that her usage of the word “whack” was whack lol.
Whack
Well I want to know from fellow classmates if you still think the word whack is cool to use as slang.

She thinks its still a common word and I disagree, so let me know what you think?????

Mix-tape Mishap

May 6th, 2009

So as stated before I DJ. I also drop mix tapes on music that I think should be heard. A lot of the music is barely getting radio play. So if you listen to the mix tapes then you will be ahead of others in listening to new music.
Here is my account:

Well if you see the 420 mixtape: its a pretty cool image.

420

Well I worked on that mix tape and I was satisfied when I released it. As soon as I dropped it it was growing very fast. Well it was about 4-19 and some other douche decided to steal my creative work and put a part 2 on it, like I was part of this. Not cool
Soon after my listens weren’t increasing anymore. I looked up other mix tapes and found that this person duplicated my image and tried to share my success. I feel that this person wronged me and ruined my image and the success of my mix tape. Damn thief’s…

Human Animal Instincts - Attraction

May 6th, 2009

This isn’t really dealing with social media but with being social as human beings. So if your expecting some technical story then pass this one.

So growing up I always believed that humans were like animals, especially in the sense of attraction. I will give stories to tell about how humans display these features as animals do.

So in the past, when I was single, I had this shirt that looks like the following: GLOWS IN THE DARK
Shirt I Have
I use to wear it at after parties and was just doing me, meaning “I don’t really care what you think”. I was just there to have fun and if someone got offended by my shirt then they probably shouldn’t be at a party like this, because lets get real stuff happens. Well all my homeboy’s thought the shirt was cool and they thought I had a pair to wear such a shirt. On the opposite side, women would pass me and didn’t want to be caught near me, because their friends would think that they were sexually active (or slutty) and they didn’t want to be caught talking or any where near me. So this is what would happen and wearing the shirt was a for sure way to keep females away. This was the old story.

Recently, I am in a relationship and I was bored at home and was going to go to an after party and decided to have the same effect that wearing that shirt use to have, how wrong I was. Well I arrived at the party and in the beginning it was mostly all my bros at that party (in a frat). Well I started to consume alcohol and chill with my friends. About an hour later after the clubs are getting out the party was growing at a quick rate with more females showing up. I really didn’t feel like being social and was just posted up on the wall and when my cup was empty would make a run to the keg. Well the after party filled up quickly and there were plenty of females and males (about equal). All my friends (male) made the usual comments on the shirt. The odd thing is that my strategy to deter women didn’t work. It seemed like the shirt had the opposite effect and I became Mr. Popular. Women started commenting on the shirt and started to be more social with me (talking and wanting to dance). I was completely confused as to why the sudden change. A lot of the females were new faces as usual and there were plenty of other well dressed males there. I decided to leave the party because the shirt didn’t have the same effect as it used to have. The only reason I could think of the change is that I had a girl friend and this maybe left some sort of scent on me. The reason I say this is this type story has been happening often when in social settings, but this wasn’t the story when I single. Let me get your view on this… What do you think is the reason for the change?

Facebook erased my college life!

April 30th, 2009

Recently, as I discussed in class, my Facebook account was disabled for being too active:

“Facebook has limits in place to prevent behavior that other users may find annoying or abusive. These limits restrict the rate at which you can use certain features on the site. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with the specific rates that have been deemed abusive…We will not be able to reactivate your account for any reason. This decision is final.

Thanks for your understanding,
The Facebook Team”

I find the punishment does not fit the crime. And what’s that crime, being too socially active. I have responded:

“Well that seems like a reasonable action and I wasn’t aware that it was something so serious. Well your decision is going to erase my college life since I uploaded plenty of media on your site. I guess I will have to start all over, thanks. Is there a way to transfer media to another account [of course there is] where I will follow these limits?”

All of my college life was on the site. That is a lot of memories, and tons of media that I worked on (only uploaded on FB, videos, photos), now lost. They had two weeks to look at my activity and they could have found that I was not harassing people. Next, this also effects me in this class because I was depending on using the large network that I had.
Overall, this is going to decrease my usage of social sites in the future…This isn’t the Facebook I joined!
What I feel

History and Facebook Stalkers.

March 5th, 2009

In Tuesday’s Class, dealing with the header posted above, I believe the quote covered in class over people trying to act as if they are only friends with actual friends is a old Friendster look at the subject. What people don’t think about is how valuable it could be to extend their network. For instance, did you think about how adding various people you might know at UT could have helped you in the project we are about to do? Well that’s what I mean about its value.

Another subject discussed dealt with people being , “FaceBook Stalkers”. I believe this is the natural human response. We are, as a majority, social creatures and I think the needs feed offers us all the info we could ever use. And I must admit that I have had friends, mainly females (true story and I’m not hating), that live off the news feed to find info that will make them fell better. An example, is they might hear that something bad happened to their Ex. This brings a sense of pleasure to these stalkers (lol). I don’t agree with the act but its gonna happen one way or another.
I use the FaceBook to promote myself, some of my creative works, and now the project that we will have to pub. At times my friends often surprised me by knowing things that just occurred with me and they found out by observing my FaceBook profile. This social networking is expanding and might grow into new areas such as profession work. This will, of course, change the way work is done and lead to more participation.
I also look forward to working with Spredfast and figuring it out. I also thought the history lesson was informational and have been applying this newly gained knowledge with friends.

In the end, I believe the social networking medium, as a whole, still has plenty of maturing to do and plenty of more to offer. As time progresses, we will see how this technology is used and if it survives.
